At Reviving Dawn, our mission is to revive the art of fine furniture making by rejecting the disposable, mass-produced designs that have overtaken the market. We craft heirloom-quality furniture using solid hardwood lumber and old-world woodworking techniques, ensuring each piece is built to last for generations. Unlike modern furniture made with cheap laminates and rubber wood, we celebrate the natural beauty of real wood. By selecting each board for its unique grain and figure, and using little to no stain, we let the wood's inherent character take center stage. Each piece is truly one of a kind, designed to stand the test of time and to bring warmth and authenticity back into your home.
Who We Are
My name is Kyle Oliver, founder, head designer, and woodworker of Reviving Dawn. Based in Athens and Watkinsville, Georgia, we’re passionate about creating furniture that honors the legacy of traditional craftsmanship while meeting the needs of modern homes. Our pieces reflect a commitment to quality, artistry, and sustainability, ensuring they’re not only functional but also works of art. At Reviving Dawn, we’re dedicated to making furniture that tells a story—one that begins in our workshop and continues in your family for years to come.
The Story Behind The Name
The name Reviving Dawn is inspired by the incredible story of the dawn redwood, a tree once believed to be extinct for millions of years until its rediscovery in China in 1941. Known as a "living fossil," this tree symbolizes renewal, resilience, and the enduring beauty of nature. My connection to this story is personal. I purchased my home from Dr. Lawrence Pomeroy, a renowned scientist and professor at the University of Georgia's School of Ecology, who planted one of Georgia’s first dawn redwoods in the front yard. Today, this towering tree serves as a daily reminder of nature’s power to inspire and endure.
At Reviving Dawn, we channel this spirit of revival into our furniture. Just as the dawn redwood was brought back to life, we’re bringing fine craftsmanship and the beauty of natural wood back to homes in our community. For us, it’s more than furniture—it’s a legacy.
